After a spectacular neighborhood festival debut last year, the West End Village is now a permanent fixture to the Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon course. With even bigger plans for this year, the West End Village Development Group has set it sights to be reigning champions with festivities beginning Sunday, May 6th at 7AM and continuing through 1PM.
The West End Village neighborhood festival will feature live entertainment by Pittsburgh Musical Theater and the Elite Show Band, as well as booths showcasing local and regional businesses, tons of cheerathoners, great prize giveaways, and much more!
Stages and tents will be lined up along South Main Street giving the runners a big surprise when they turn the corner from Steuben Street. "Comments have poured out from runners about the pleasant surprise it was to turn into the West End and see a crowd of people cheering," stated race director Patrice Matamoros.
Pittsburgh Musical Theater and the Elite Show Band will be performing throughout the day on the main stage at South Main and Alexander Streets while bands, the Irish Pretenders and the Damaged Pies, play by Sanctus Street. Other activities include a ZUMBA class, raffles, children's crafts, and much more! Local restaurants and The Burgh Bites Cart will be open for breakfast and lunch.
At miles six and seven, the West End Village is the perfect location to cheer on the runner in your family. There will be plenty of spectator seating and free parking! For more information call 412-922-2740 or view our flyer here.
